...or drinking coffee...
Bit fed up with a week's worth of rain and no prospect of it stopping. Where to ride to? Cycling and coffee have always gone hand in hand, so I've been out and about sampling the delights of my local (and not so local) coffee shops.
I'm a fan of supporting the principle of local High Streets...so you won't find me in Neros or Costa! Small independents have so much more to offer...and this beauty is probably my favourite. Proof indeed that even when the market seems saturated - if you do something excellently you can succeed. In fact, the Let's Go To Beeston Directory lists no fewer than 20 coffee shops in Beeston! And this one's thriving, even though it's been open just under a year.

It can accommodate the buzz without feeling overcrowded, even when it's busy. It's kind of sparse without being sparse. I like the decor... it has a minimalist feel but makes a statement. It's both creative and original... I like the choice of reading materials... these focus on niche interests from micro publishers... I like the bikey bits - of course! I go there to read Boneshaker which is full of alternative and interesting pieces about cycling. The magazine features articles by mainly "lifestyle" cyclists and not lycra louts (tho I'll admit to being both). There are sculptures of bikes, too... I like the staff... always polite, always friendly, even when busy. I like the culture... I've mentioned the notion of "excellence"...and the shop has impressive credentials here.

There's the coffee...
